Case study 02
Springs Rescue Mission

Year-round storytelling for Colorado Springs' largest homeless services provider, from seasonal giving campaigns to a 30th-anniversary photo book of the people whose lives changed there.
01Challenge
Springs Rescue Mission needed to keep donors and volunteers engaged all year while telling the truth about homelessness with dignity. The work had to move people to give without turning the people it serves into props.
02Approach
I designed Hope Springs Forth, a 34-page photo book for SRM's 30th anniversary that pairs Aaron Anderson's portraits with first-person stories, using generous white space and quiet type so each person gets a full spread. Alongside it I built seasonal giving campaigns, awareness ads like “This is not a bed,” a reusable system of social story templates, and short-form video for the same stories.
03Outcome
Together, the photo book, campaigns, and social system gave SRM a consistent, dignified way to tell its story all year, keeping donors and volunteers engaged and giving the people it serves a voice.

Campaigns
Seasonal appeals built around one simple number — $2.50 provides a meal — and awareness ads that ask people to look again at what homelessness actually looks like. They ran across Meta and Google.

springsrescuemission Just $2.50 provides a meal for a homeless neighbor this season.

Help our homeless neighbors sleep in a real bed tonight.

Social System
Reusable story templates so SRM's team can share graduations, volunteers, and milestones in one consistent voice, plus short-form video stories for Reels and Shorts.
